1887 Sanborn Fire Map Sheet 3
![]() This Map shows the 2nd roundhouse and turntable in Bloomington . The downtown turntable was removed in 1891 or 1892 according to the 1891 and 1892 maps. The turntable downtown was thought to be a standard 60' Sellars turntable. The turntable at this second roundhouse also scales out to be 60' and the stall @ 70'. This 2nd turntable and roundhouse were used until the third roundhouse and turntable was built further south in the yard between 1907 and 1911. Apparently this 60' turntable was too short to permit some engines to be turned to get to the water tower. I looks as though on this 1907 map the back wall was opened to allow longer steam engines to run straight across the turntable to get to the water tower. |
