Above:  This picture was taken in 1891 looking North East, probably from the top of a building listed as a Machine shop on the 1898 Map, on the north side of 8th St. at Madison St.  The photographer is obviously higher than the telegraph pole and is farther away than the second track (not shown) therefore standing on a box car is not possible.  The dirt road running along side of the cars is Madison St.  The opening between the cars on the right and the wood pile is 8th St.   The far left buildings with the boiler stacks are on the 1887 Map.  All of the buildings are on the 1892 Map.   The flat car in the lower left is standing on a siding that ran along the mainline from 7th St., past Rogers St., almost to Fairview St.   This was obviously a posed picture as 4 workers are leaning out the second story of the factory and the two workers in the boxcar are all facing the camera.
Below:  This photo recently appeared in a booklet produced by Bloomington Restorations, Inc., " Bloomington and Indiana University".  It is of the Showers Brother's Chamber Suites Furniture Company.  Bloomington City Offices are now located at this site in the brick Showers Furniture factory that replaced the wooden structures in this photograph.

Both of the L.N.A. & C. R."W". boxcars are labeled "Furniture Car".  Both also have the "MONON ROUTE" logo on them.  It is interesting that the height of box cars is already starting to increase.  The N.Y.P. & O. R.R., "ERIE DISPATCH" car on the right is clearly 3 feet lower than the MONON car.
