Monon # 211, a 4-8-0 Steam Locomotive weighing 184000 lbs. was delivered by Brooks Locomotive Works on April 1, 1900.  On January 1, 1911 the number of #211 was changed to # 231.  This locomotive was retired on 5-16-1924. It was either completely rebuilt by Brooks at that time under Authorization for Expenditure #3522 or was replaced with a new 4-8-0 delivered on August 1, 1924, numbered 231, and weighed 196000.  This # 231 was retired on April 4, 1949.  This explains why the picture below of  #231 on the scale track does not match #211.  This is the History of Monon #211 according to the Monon Steam Locomotive Roster maintained by the Monon Railroad Historical -Technical Society.

This photo was taken at Bloomington , IN between April 1900 and January 1911.  This is the only known photograph of the 2nd roundhouse and turntable in Bloomington.  It was located on the east side of the yard, directly south of South Street (later Hillside). The photographer is standing in the middle of  South Street (dirt street) facing south east.  He is standing in the middle of several tracks with his back to the Yard office, originally called the telegraph office.  This roundhouse was directly east of where the railroad hotel once stood on the west side of the yard.  The switch points on the second track match the cross over shown on the Map  also.  (See Map below)
